Our Origins
Mataana began in 2021 as Zero Carbon, founded by Peter Jodlowski and Martin Reynolds, with a mission to de-risk and accelerate the global energy transition. As our work deepened in the Middle East, we realized that "sustainability" was not the primary driver of adoption;
In 2025, we rebranded to Mataana (Arabic for "resilience" and "durability") to reflect this evolved focus. We recognized that the technologies capable of surviving the extreme heat, dust, and scale of the region were the only ones that truly mattered.
Today, Mataana operates as a holding company, partnering with specialized entities like Cool Climate Collective to launch platforms such as Mataana Ventures and Modern Energy.
Our goal is to create and nurture a ecosystem where critical technologies can be tested, proven, and scaled globally.
